The first impression is very important:

You have to know your room first:
  • How the the light comes in.
  • The location of the walls.
  • The dominating wall surface, when entering the room.
  • The dominating wall surface, when being in the room.
  • The first impression you want to give the visitor.

If the welcoming wall is located deep inside the room, its art has to give a strong impression.

If the art in the room has a theme, the introducing art has to reflect that.

The general impression of the art is very important and must be superior.

Consider the existing style of the room. A room filled with objects can handle an extensive art collection. In an airy room the art should be hung rather sparingly.

Do not be afraid to use the walls of the hall, the dining-room, the kitchen and - yes - the bathroom.
